Journal policy

Psychosomatic Medicine and General Practice (PMGP) is an electronic open-access medical journal. We publish original research articles, reviews and case studies that disclose relevant diagnostic and treatment issues for disorders covered by these disciplines. 

Open Access Statement: We believe in open science. All published articles are immediately available on the internet without any fees or subscriptions.

Aims and Scope

Our journal covers such medical disciplines as general practice (family medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, etc), psychosomatic medicine, psychiatry, medical psychology, psychotherapy, neurology. We publish original research articles, reviews and case studies which disclose relevant diagnostic and treatment issues for disorders covered by these disciplines.

Peer review

All research articles, reviews and clinical cases, which the journal receives, undergo a peer review. This process is provided by the external (regarding the journal editorial team and editorial board) reviewers, specialists in the article's research field. Reviewers after evaluation recommend to the assigned editor (from the journal staff or editorial board) whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised or rejected.

The peer-review process is double-blind. Both the reviewer and the author are anonymous to each other. 

Policies and ethics

The parameters of the research, the conditions for conducting them and the qualifications of the researchers must be fully in line with the requirements of the Directives of the European Parliament and Council 2001/20/EC from 4 April 2001, 2001/83/EC from 6 November 2001, European Parliament and Council Decisions 1901/2006 from 12 December 2006 and 1902/2006 from 20 December 2006, the ICH GCP, Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Dignity of the Human Being with regard to the Application of Biology and Medicine: Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine, Laws of Ukraine "On Psychiatric Care", "Basic Laws of Ukraine on Healthcare", "On Personal Data Protection", World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki. Ethical Committees for Biomedical Expertise, Operational Guidelines for Ethics Committees, Ethical Code of Ukrainian Doctor, Code of Ethics for Ukrainian Scientists.

The permission to conduct the research should be provided by the local ethics committee on the basis of familiarization with all its parameters. Patients may be included in the study only after giving them an informed consent to participate in the study.

Publishing Platform: Open Journal Systems

Publishing Tools: We believe in open science. According to this policy, we provide not only open access to our content but also free access to own developed tools: DOCX to JATS XML converter,  JATS XML to LaTeX converter and JATS Parser Plugin for OJS 3. Also, for the OJS community, we have developed a theme with modern responsive design: source code, demonstration instance.   All these products are licensed under GNU General Public License v.3, copyrighted by Vitaliy Bezsheiko (journal senior editor).
